Important Student Parking Information

All UCCS parking lots require a parking permit. The permit should be purchased prior to the first day of each semester in order to avoid citations while parking on campus. There is NO "grace period."  There is no longer a need to come to the Parking Office to pick up the physical permit after purchase.  Parking permits are now virtual permits, which is your license plate(s).  Up to 2 license plates can be registered under one permit. However, only one of these listed vehicles can be parked on campus at the same time. Additionally, motorcycles can be one of your registered vehicles, but they must be parked in dedicated motorcycle parking areas only and may not be parked at the same time as any other vehicle.
 

Waitlist Information

Central Campus permits (Full Central, MWF, & TRF) sell out due to limited parking availability. To ensure everyone who purchases one has a space, we cap the number sold and use a waitlist.

Alpine Permits are also limited to ensure that Residents have space to park.

When are permits released?
We regularly monitor Central Campus lot usage and begin releasing waitlisted permits as space becomes available. While there’s no guarantee, we’ve historically been able to fully release the waitlist about 6–8 weeks into the semester.

*Handicap Exception: If you have handicap placard/plates you may bypass the waitlist.

While You Wait
You can:

  • Purchase a Border, Alpine, or Evening permit and exchange it if released.
  • Register for a free 500 Series permit. 
 
*Permits are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
*Students MUST be registered for classes in order to log into the parking portal or purchase a permit in person at the Parking Office.
*Most permits will sell out well before the first day of classes, so purchase your permit early!

Permit Refunds

Permits may be returned for a full refund anytime on or before the UCCS census date. No refunds will be issued after the UCCS census date; however, you may exchange for a permit of equal or higher value after census date. 

The Safety and Transportation fee is refunded only if Admissions and Records refund all other fees. The refund of this fee is done in accordance with the calendar on page 4 of the Schedule of Courses and follows the refund schedule for all tuition and fees.

Price: Free!

If you have paid for any student permit, that permit will allow you to park in the 500 series lots at any time. If you have not paid for a permit, you may register for a 500 Series permit on the parking portal.

Please see our Transportation Page for more information about our free shuttles to the main campus. When classes aren't in session, such as weekends and certain holidays, shuttles will not be in operation. When shuttles are not in operation, students may park on the main campus without a permit.
