Lecturer Parking Permits Procedure

Lecturer Parking Permits Procedure

Parking Services recognizes lecturers are compensated at a rate much less than their full time counterparts.  Thus, when purchasing a semester permit, some lecturers are paying as much as 30% of what they make on a parking permit.  The following procedure has been developed to help lecturers who are on campus once, twice, or three days a week. In order to ensure that parking is charged equitably, based on use of parking, and not on the pay of the instructor, the following guidelines are used for this program:

  1. Lecturer parking permits are available for sale to lecturers and instructors only. Lecturer permits are only available during the fall and spring semesters. For this purpose, a lecturer or instructor is defined as:
    1. A non-benefited instructor/lecturer.  Employees with benefits do not qualify for this program.
    2. An instructor who is not also a student. Anyone enrolled as a student at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs, regardless of credit hour load, do not qualify for this program.
  2. Recognition of the fact that most lecturers are on campus once, twice or three days a week, thus the benefits of the semester permit are not fully utilized by these individuals.
  3. Pricing of lecturer parking permits is structured in such a way that it is not beneficial to purchase a semester permit.
  4. You may denote your status in your portal.
  1. A semester permit will be available for purchase by lecturers allowing them access to Orange, Yellow & Blue (100-300 series) lots, the Gateway Garage, Levels 1-5 and the Alpine Garage and Field, Visitor Parking ONLY on certain days of the week only.
  2. The permit is valid during a given semester ONLY and ONLY for the day(s) of the week(s) for which it is purchased. There are no restrictions on time or use for that day of the week.
  3. The "day specific" permit is valid the entire semester.
